Tuesday 31st December – Ski ***** Peisey-Vallandry - sunny

We headed off to the Bourg funicular at nearly the same time as yesterday and made our way up and over to the lovely peisey vallandry slopes. The others went off over to La Plagne and we stayed on the slopes above peisey. We had both just been to the loo at the cable car and joined the lift (no queue) when we spotted our old ski instructor Richard!!! We have been keeping an eye out for him since we got over here the first time and never expected to see him. I spotted him with a group of children a little way away and then amazingly he came to join the queue right beside us. We caught his attention by calling his name and he looked over. We told him you taught us to ski 13 years ago and he grinned, gave us a hug and I took a photo of him with Mag – the one of him is great but unfortunately not so good of Mag! He said we are still here but we are a lot older:) I asked him how old he was and he said 51. We shuffled off very happy and spent a brilliant afternoon doing a relatively easy black and red run which led us to a beautiful spot for lunch, a picnic table overlooking the vanoise park! Stunning. We had a couple of runs down 66 then came back the same way as yesterday and got on virtually the same funicular. Went to the intermarche to get a few bits and pieces then back to the apartment to have a chat with linda and a snack!
Will and Lee cooked chilli for tea and then they went out with simon and Natasha to the town in search of new year celebrations. They all wore their xmas jumpers Neil and Linda went to bed before 11 and we stayed up and watched the fireworks at the various ski resorts around the town – must have been six or seven all going off around the mountains :)

Happy and Healthy New Year to everyone :)
